During his address, President Marcos Jr. made a strong appeal to these media professionals, urging them to maintain the highest ethical and professional standards in their journalism. He emphasized the importance of steering clear of sensationalism, bias, and personal agendas, while consistently prioritizing the nation’s best interests.

The President also encouraged the media to take a proactive role in guiding the public to distinguish between truth and misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation. With the overwhelming flow of information brought on by technological advancements, he highlighted the crucial responsibility that media professionals bear in helping ordinary citizens discern what constitutes real news versus propaganda.

President Marcos Jr. reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety of journalists and media practitioners. He acknowledged that cases have already been filed against those who have committed offenses against media workers and assured that law enforcement agencies are working diligently to bring all perpetrators to justice.

The President’s message was clear: the media must continue to serve as a beacon of truth and integrity, especially in an age where information is both a powerful tool and a potential weapon. With these new leaders at the helm, he expressed confidence that the media will continue to uphold these values and work in tandem with the government to build a stronger and more informed nation.
